To support your solo travel adventures, from our 2026 Arctic and Beyond season, we will offer 10 dedicated solo cabins on every sailing, with no single supplement.*

Our landings and activities are all conducted in small groups. You will be able to explore at your own pace, pushing your own limits with adventure. You will be surrounded by fellow expeditioners with a shared spirit of adventure, having an amazing experience, making new friends – and the memories will be yours to keep.

Whether you choose solo accommodation or if you would like to share accommodation with another expeditioner of the same gender, we will be happy to try to make it happen for you. Save the solo supplement and we’ll pair you with a like-minded traveller based on gender and your selected stateroom category. If we’re unable to find you someone to share with, the solo supplement is waived. This option can be combined with other offers and discounts.

Request a private stateroom

If you would like a specific stateroom all to yourself, you can pay a 50% surcharge and it’s all yours! This way, you can explore endlessly at your own pace. This option can be combined with other offers and discounts.

*No Single Supplement: No single supplement is based on the full brochure fare. Offer is only valid on new bookings available until sold out. Availability is limited and capacity controlled and available on select cabins categories only. Greg Mortimer and Sylvia Earle offer 10 dedicated cabins, based on Balcony C cabins 611 and 614, Balcony B cabins 606 and 603 and Balcony A cabins 407, 409, 410, 412, 607 and 610. Douglas Mawson offers 4 dedicated no solo supplement cabins based on Balcony A cabins 407, 409, 410 and 412. Offer can be withdrawn at any time and not redeemable for cash. How does Aurora Expeditions support solo travellers looking to share a stateroom?

One of the major barriers for solo travellers are ‘single supplements’, or additional charges because you are travelling alone. When travelling with Aurora Expeditions, you won’t need to worry about these. We offer a service that helps you find a like-minded traveller (or two) of the same gender to share your stateroom with. This way you can avoid paying any extra single supplements during your voyage with us.

What if I want my own private stateroom?

That is fine. We offer the option to pay a 50% surcharge for a sole occupancy stateroom (on top of the twin occupancy rate).

Will the group be full of couples or solo travellers?

On our expeditions, the average ratio between solo travellers and others (whether couples or friends) is approximately 30:70. However, this varies. If you are keen to know more about the others booked on your specific voyage, talk to one of our Expedition Experts for more details. We are always keen to help ensure you are booked on the most suitable voyage for you.

Are other single travellers mainly women or men?

Generally, the split between women and men travelling solo on our trips is 50:50, however in recent years there has been a slight rise in the number of female solo travellers. If you’d like to know more about the others booked on your specific voyage, talk to our Expedition Experts today.

What age will the rest of my group be?

The age groups of passengers on our voyages vary hugely. Traditionally the majority of passengers have been over 50, however in recent years we have seen an increase in younger guests; particularly with the lure of our adventure activities, photography workshops, adding voyages to a round-the-world trip etc. We would say expect the age range to be diverse & rest assured that a good, mixed range of ages on the expedition makes the experience all the more fun.
